Bollywood actress Malaika Arora and husband Arbaaz Khan are all set to part their ways officially as the couple recently attended a counselling session – a required practice for divorce – at the Bandra Family Court. The couple had been married for 18 years now.
According to a source, the session was also attended by a marriage counselor. A judge was appointed in their case as well.
As per the reports this was their only session prior to their six-month ‘cooling-off’ period. The hearing on their divorce matter will be on May 11 next year.
The couple will meet in the judge’s chamber following which their affidavits will be submitted and verified. The divorce with mutual consent is likely to be granted on the same day. Notably, the terms of settlement are being kept under wraps.
“During the counselling session on Tuesday, Malaika and Arbaaz spent a few hours talking to the judge, and then the counsellor joined in towards the end. Usually a couple is asked to reconsider their decision before they part ways. They are also questioned about why they wish to separate, if they’re doing it on their own will and what would be the monetary and other terms of divorce. The same questions were asked to Malaika and Arbaaz and both of them handled the matter maturely,” said the source to BT.
