After failing to get an ambulance for ailing sister in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur, a brother carried her on his shoulders but the latter died before reaching the hospital.
The family alleged that the ambulance failed to come while they waited for one hour since they had called for it.
Savitri (23), wife of Shiv Kumar, a resident of Dadra in Mirzapur, had some post-pregnancy complications since the birth of her son, who is one and a half years old.
After complaining of ill- health on Wednesday, her family took her to a doctor, who later referred her to a nearby community centre.

When no progress in her health was observed, she was referred to a hospital. The family called for an ambulance, but it did not come for the next one hour.
Distraught at the situation, the brother carried his sister on his shoulders. He had barely begun walking when the woman died. He returned home with her body still on his shoulders.
Dr Vidhu Gupta, Chief Medical Officer, said, “The woman died before the ambulance could reach. She was brought to the CHC in critical condition. When asked for post-mortem, the family members carried the body with them.
The incident comes days after a man had carried the corpse of his seven-month-old niece on his shoulders on a cycle in Kaushambi. When asked for an ambulance, the hospital had demanded Rs 800.
