A man was lynched by locals after he allegedly raped and murdered a six-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district on Wednesday.
The incident happened in Aligarh’s Bheekamapur village, where the man raped and then murdered the minor girl. Following the incident, the man was reportedly killed by the locals.
The man, who hails from Badaun, used to work in the girl’s father’s snack shop, who had fired him a month ago. He was not spotted in the village since then. The act is seen as his revenge.
The accused possibly lured the girl and took her to a farm where he raped and later killed her.
When the girl’s parents were unable to find her for some time, they started looking for her and recovered her body from the farm.
The accused was also found sitting near the girl’s body.
Horrified over the incident, the locals thrashed the accused. He was handed over to the police later.
The man was then admitted to a hospital and declared dead within a few hours.
“The accused was nabbed by the locals. He was sitting near the body of the girl. He was drunk. He was thrashed by the people and later died at around 3 am,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aligarh, Rajesh Kumar Pandey.
A case has been filed and a probe is underway.
