Manipur Foundation Day: One of the seven sister states of India, Manipur was formed on January 21, 1972, and as the foundation day is today, let’s take a look at how the history and significance of Manipur were formed. Other than being one of the beautiful states of India, Manipur is also called as Sanaleibak, or Kanglieipak, Imphal is the capital and the largest city of Manipur.
Manipur Foundation Day 2021: History
In 1972, Manipur along with Meghalaya and Tripura became a full-fledged state under the North Eastern region under the Re-Organisation act 1971. So during the British days, Manipur was one of the princely states between in 1917 to 1939, the people of Manipur pressed for their righthand by the late 1930s the Kingdom of Manipur negotiated with the British and its preference to be part of India, However, these negotiations were stopped due to world war 2.
The statehood celebration in Manipur involves a series of Cultural events, from perfuming on their cultural dance and more, but this time the cultural events would be kept low due to novel coronavirus pandemic.
