A Supreme Court judge on Wednesday has said that gender neutral parenting and change in mindset is the need of the hour to make workplaces safer and public transport more accessible to women. There must be an effort to create safe places so that women can be equal participants in public life, said SC judge, DY Chandrachud.

“While we have made progress over these few years, it is perhaps time for us to introspect as to why violent crimes against women are not abating,” the SC judge said at the 6th annual convocation ceremony of OP Jindal Global University.

“Measures must be undertaken to make workplaces safer and public transport more accessible. To my mind what needs to change is our mind sets. Gender neutral parenting and sensitization is the need of the hour and I hope that your generation can be the required change,” he added.

Nearly 401 students were awarded degrees after successfully completing graduate and post graduate courses.

Minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy was also present at the event apart from Axis Bank’s managing director and CEO, Shikha Sharma, and JGU Chancellor, Naveen Jindal, and judges of various high courts.
