Jalen Dalton: A defensive tackle for the San Antonio Brahmas named Jalen Dalton has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL said. As of now, Dalton is the 12th Brahmas player and the 80th NFL player to sign a deal when the season is over.
According to AS News, some Brahmas players have moved on to NFL teams. Jaylen Twyman (New York Jets), Joel Iyiegbuniwe (Detroit Lions), Chuck Filiaga (Minnesota Vikings), Wyatt Ray (Miami Dolphins), Jontre’ Kirklin (San Francisco 49ers), Zach Morton (Green Bay Packers), Kohl Levao (New York Jets), Prince Emili (Atlanta Falcons), and Julién Davenport (Atlanta Falcons) are some of the players who have moved on. The Brahmas will keep Dalton’s rights if he comes back to the UFL.

Cowboys acquire Jalen Dalton, a defensive end
From Jerry Jones, the GM, after the game:
Q. Do you believe your roster has the talent to be one of those top teams as it’s assembled right now?
Jones: I do.
Q. Why?
Jones: I just do.

The Dallas Cowboys made some changes to their roster during their bye week. They let defensive tackle Phil Hoskins go and added Jalen Dalton, who used to play in the XFL, to their practice team. These moves are being made because the team is short-handed on defense because DeMarcus Lawrence and Marshawn Kneeland are hurt and will be out for two and three weeks, respectively.
The Cowboys are still looking for answers, but players like Tyrus Wheat, Carl Lawson, and K.J. Henry haven’t done much so far. Without Lawrence and Kneeland, Chauncey Golston has been the team’s best defensive end.
From 2015 to 2018, Dalton, now 27 years old, attended North Carolina during his collegiate football career. He finished with 93 total tackles and 6.5 sacks. The Chicago Bears signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2019. In addition, he had brief stints with the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, and Carolina Panthers in the National Football League.

In 2020 and 2021, he suffered injuries that ended his season. His final NFL season was in 2022, when he made his debut with the Atlanta Falcons. In 12 games, he recorded 12 tackles, 3 pressures, and 8 defensive stops. He most recently played for former Cowboys coach Wade Phillips’ Seattle Sea Dragons and San Antonio Brahmas.
Even though Dalton has never even made an NFL sack, it almost seems like a meaningless signing given that he might not even be promoted from the practice squad until Lawrence and Kneeland return. If he is upgraded, which may come as soon as October 27 when the Cowboys play the San Francisco 49ers, he will have ten days to prepare.
