In a shocking incident, two persons in Hyderabad were arrested with over 40KGs of marijuana. On Friday, prohibition and excise personnel and seized 42 kg of marijuana that they were ferrying concealed in bags of tamarind.

As per reports, Sunil Singh (23), a resident of Gangabowli in Upper Dhoolpet and his partner Surender (39) from Tuni in East Godavari district, were held with three bags, with one bag containing 22kg of marijuana, while the other two bags had 10kg each, all stuffed and hid under bundles of tamarind.

However, this is not the first case of Marijuana seizure and peddling in Hyderabad. Earlier this year, another man was arrested for allegedly growing marijuana in his house in Hyderabad. Police said the man grew marijuana in small pots in his three-bedroom apartment and then sold it to customers.

Speaking about the arrests made on Friday, N. Anjireddy, Assistant Excise Superintendent, said Singh had received Surender, who brought the marijuana from East Godavari in a private tourist bus at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, and both were proceeding towards Gangabowli on Singh’s motorbike when the Excise personnel intercepted and nabbed them.
