Mentally unfit man puts blanket on Ambedkar’s statue, lights bonfire to keep it warm

As severe cold wave condition sweeps north India, a mentally unfit man wrapped a blanket and lit a bonfire for a B R Ambedkar statue to keep it warm.

The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarpur district. When locals woke up to the site of a wrapped up Ambedkar statue, they immediately approached the police to lodge a complaint.

While investigating the matter, the accused man muttered incoherently saying he was doing everything to stop Ambedkar from being affected by the cold.

“I was feeling cold and I thought Ambedkar would be feeling the same, and therefore I have covered him with a blanket and lit a bonfire near the statue,” said the man to police.

Upon learning the mental state of the man, the police let him off. No case was registered in the matter but the incident was entered in the General Diary.
