Early Wednesday morning, militants ambushed an army convoy in North Kashmir’s Handwara injuring three soldiers. According to the latest reports coming in, army has cordoned off the area and have launched a search operation to tracer the militants.

The attacks, as informed by the locals took place on the Baramulla – Handwara highway near Kralgund Udipora village. The convoy was on its way from Kupwara to Baramulla when the attack took place.

This is second such attack on the army convoy in the strife ridden state in the past month as earlier of on August 17, militants had attacked another convoy on the national highway at Khawjabagh Baramulla that left two soldiers and a police man dead. The militants had then fled from the spot.

Post the attack, the army started moving its convoys during the day. Since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, the army had been moving its convoys in night to avoid confrontation with civilian protestors.
