The ‘Bharat Bandh’, organized by certain Dalit and Adivasi groups, showcased a mixed response in Chhattisgarh, particularly excluding tribal-dominated areas.
Commercial establishments were seen closed in parts of Bastar and Surguja divisions, while the shutdown witnessed moderate reactions in Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, and Korba districts.
Notably, transport services continued without disturbances, and essential sectors such as schools and hospitals were operational. A notable event in Dantewada featured a substantial motorcycle rally by Sarva Adivasi Samaj (SAS), highlighting support from various community segments.
A memorandum addressing top-level national leaders was presented by SAS, protesting the Supreme Court’s contentious sub-classification verdict. The Congress party publicly backed the bandh, advocating for a sympathetic review of ST and SC community grievances.
