Robert Romawia Royte is the richest candidate in Mizoram‘s assembly elections having declared assets worth Rupees 55 crores. He has a variety of sports cars to his name and also owns a popular football club.
Royte says he wishes to keep his election campaign modest with mostly relying on door-to-door discussions. He is currently associated with Mizo National Front political party.
The millionaire businessman is pitted against a veteran Congress leader, an incumbent finance minister, Lalsawta.
Royte owns Aizawl FC which won I-league in 2017. The 51-year-old, in his first Assembly election, is contesting from Aizawl East-II constituency. He had earlier fought Lok Sabha Elections in 2014 losing out as an independent candidate.
The state is set to go for elections on November 28 with the counting scheduled to take place on December 11.
