Muzaffarpur: A special POCSO court ordered CBI probe against Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in regards to the case of the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case.

An investigation was also ordered against magistrate Dharmendra Singh and Atul Prasad, principal secretary, Social Welfare Atul Prashed.

As per medical reports, more than 30 girls living in the shelter home before the case came under the light, had suffered sexual abuse. The Muzaffarpur horror came to light when the Bihar Social Welfare Department filed an FIR based on a social audit of the shelter home conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai that mentions incidents of rapes of minor girls.

Last year after the TISS study highlighted that out of the 42 girls lodged at the short-stay home run by an NGO, 34 were found to have been sexually assaulted.

The shelter home was being run by Brajesh Thakur and an FIR was lodged against 11 people, including Thakur, on May 31. The probe was later taken over by the CBI.
