'My son doesn't want to act and I don't think he can' says Shah Rukh Khan on David Letterman show

Actor Shah Rukh Khan recently graced the David Letterman’s show. With screaming audiences and a host that was bewildered by all of it, Shah Rukh arrived on the stage of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman with some nervous energy but managed to win hearts by being the wittiest best he is. The episode was aired on Netflix on Friday.

Shah Rukh talked about his movies, wife, kids and parents, something he has always been open about. However, never to this extent.

While many of SRK fans are curious to see his son Aryan Khan in films, given the looks he has got from his father. When Shah Rukh was once again asked about Aryan and whether he’ll be making his career in films, SRK couldn’t hold himself back from elaborating on what is the actual reason behind Aryan being disinterested in becoming an actor. “My son doesn’t want to act and I don’t think he can. But you know in India it’s like okay if you are a movie star’s son then you become a movie star. He looks nice and tall and okay…But I don’t think he has what it takes perhaps, and he realizes it himself. He is a good writer”, said the actor.

He was further asked if SRK has shared these concerns with Aryan and the doting daddy added, “I think wanting to become an actor has to come from within. It’s something that you are wanting to do and really feel like doing and then find the set of skills and learn it. But I think I have realized it from him when he said that. He came and said that ‘I don’t think I want to act. His issue was, which I think is very practical and honest. He said, ‘every time I will be compared to you. So if I do well, it ‘ll not be because I got skilled at this it’ll be ‘oh he is his son, he will do well. It’s in the genes’ and then he said if I don’t do well it’ll always be ‘my God look at him..what his father did and what is he doing?’. So he said I don’t want to be in that position.”
