If you too have fancied Star Wars and the extraterrestrial, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has the perfect job for you. NASA is offering jobs to protect the Earth from aliens and will pay a six-figure salary to the person. The planetary protection officer would be responsible for implementing policies during NASA space flight missions. And would involve protecting the planet and its inhabitants from alien contamination and vice versa.
“NASA maintains policies for planetary protection applicable to all space flight missions that may intentionally or unintentionally carry Earth organisms and organic constituents to the planets or other solar system bodies, and any mission employing spacecraft, which are intended to return to Earth and its biosphere with samples from extraterrestrial targets of exploration,” the job description states.
According to reports, the salary that will be offered to the person will be between $ 124,406 and $ 187,000 per year. This job involves prevention of Earth from alien microbes contamination and ensuring human space explorers do not damage other planets, moons, and objects in space. “Planetary protection is concerned with the avoidance of organic-constituent and biological contamination in human and robotic space exploration,” NASA wrote in the job posting on its website late last month.
This offer is open to those with broad engineering experience and a willingness to travel. One can apply for this position until August 14, 2017. The post is for an initial period of three years, can also be extended for an additional two. The candidate applying for this position should have advanced knowledge of Planetary Protection, demonstrated experience planning, executing, or overseeing elements of space programs of national significance.
