National Lok Adalat on September 13: Courts across Telangana will open their doors for the National Lok Adalat on September 13, where all kinds of civil cases and compoundable criminal cases can be settled. The big event will take place from the High Court right down to the Taluk level, giving thousands of people a chance to resolve disputes quickly. People do not need to spend any money.
The Lok Adalat process is free, and if someone has already paid court fees for a pending case, that money will be refunded once the case gets settled here. Another important point is that once an award is passed in Lok Adalat, there is no chance to appeal against it.

Lok Adalat 2025: Traffic Challans eligible for waiver
Challans related to minor violations will be waived or reduced. These include:
- Driving without seat belt
- Riding without helmet
- Jumping red light Wrongly issued challan
- Over-speeding
- Not having PUC certificate
- Wrong parking
- Driving without licence
- No vehicle fitness certificate
- Driving in wrong lane Ignoring traffic signs
- Driving without number plate
- Challans not eligible for waiver
- Drunk driving
- Hit-and-run cases
- Death caused by negligent driving
- Driving by minors
- Unauthorized racing or speed trials
- Vehicles used in criminal activities
- Traffic challans pending in court cases
- Challans issued in other states
Settlement process
Authorities have made it clear that anyone who wants to take part must complete online registration first. After applying, participants will get a token number and an appointment letter, which will tell them the date and time of their hearing. On the hearing day, they need to bring the appointment letter, token, and all important documents.
People are advised to reach at least an hour before their allotted time. On the day of the hearing, judges will call cases in order of token numbers. At some centres, special benches are set up where people can walk in and clear pending challans in one go, making the process very simple.

- Fill in the form and upload required documents.
- Submit the form to receive a token number via email or phone.
Disputes that can be resolved
The Lok Adalat will hear a wide range of matters. Traffic challans are a major focus, but the benches will also take up civil cases like family disputes, property matters, and other smaller pending cases.
Judges will listen to both sides and then pass an order to close the case on the spot. The Telangana State Legal Services Authority has urged people to use this opportunity. Member Secretary Ch Panchakshari has encouraged everyone to make use of the Lok Adalat mechanism and get their cases resolved either in physical or virtual mode, reported ET.
Lok Adalats function under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and over the years they have helped thousands of people settle disputes without long waits in regular courts.
For this session too, people can approach the chairman or secretary of their district legal services authority, Nyaya Seva Sadan in the court complex, or even the nearest mandal legal services committee. For cases related to traffic fines, applicants must carry their original vehicle papers and challan details to make sure the process goes smoothly.
