There are no conditions to belong to any country: Harsh Mander

Rights activist and writer Harsh Mander on Saturday said that every individual is free to eat, dress, follow a religion and love as they choose. Speaking at the Dehradun Community Literature Festival (DCLF), he said that there are no conditions to belong to any country. Newsd is the digital media partner for DCLF which started on April 19 in Dehradun.

Author Kiran Nagarkar, Nandita Haksar, Nayantara Sahgal and Harsh Mander held a session on ‘Nationalism in Digital India’. Rana Ayyub was the moderator for this session. The speakers compared Trump-led America to Modi-led India.

The second edition of the four-day long Dehradun Community Literature Festival 2017 concluded on Saturday at World Integrity Centre India.

The concluding day witnessed several exciting sessions by eminent authors of the country. The first session was on ‘India’s Journey into the Age of Liberation’. Authors Omkar Goswami and Jaithirth Rao spoke on the tales of trade and their joys and disappointments. Omkar Goswami is the Founder and Chairman of CERG Advisory Private Limited. The session was moderated by Gurcharan Das.

‘Liberalism in India’ was another interesting session by authors Jaithirth Rao, Gurcharan Das and R. Jagannathan. They discussed contemporary issues and the session was moderated by Hindol Sengupta.

The last session of the festival was a hit among youngsters with Durjoy Datta and Sumrit Shahi as speakers, both being a sensation among young readers. The topic of the session was ‘The Girl of My Dreams: Finding Perfect Love in Fiction’. The session highlighted matters of love and relationships amongst youngsters. Shutapa Paul, Group Editor of Newsd, moderated this session.

The four-day long festival ended with music and festivities.
