India’s Largest Airport in the Making

The Noida International Airport stands out as an exceptional infrastructure development because it will eventually transform into India’s most extensive airport when its construction reaches completion. The acquisition for the project has cost about Rs 5,000 crore, while roughly Rs 7,000 crore is being invested in construction activities.
The airport, which follows a multi-phase development schedule, will:
- Achieve a full operational capacity of five runways in its future expansion
- Serve a maximum of 30 crore passengers each year when it reaches its full operational capacity
- Extend across a land area of approximately 11,750 acres.
The airport, which sits in Jewar Gautam Buddha Nagar, serves as a key aviation hub for the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh.
Initially aimed for completion in 2024, experienced its first delay when the necessary security and regulatory approvals remained unapproved, and construction work faced logistical challenges.
The project has reached its launch stage after security clearance achieved its final stage and authorities obtained the necessary aerodrome license.
What To Expect?
The project site continues active development work because local residents still express their concerns about the project. Families whose land the authorities took have staged protests especially about employment at the airport.
The authorities have confirmed that they currently work on solutions which will solve these problems while maintaining a balance between development and rehabilitation efforts.
The official starting point for the countdown has begun. The Noida International Airport at Jewar will transform air travel in northern India when it opens in March 2026.
