In a heated session at the Lok Sabha, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi alleged that he has been consistently prevented from speaking, voicing concerns about the role of the House as a representative of the entire country and not a singular party.
The session, which revolved around the motion to remove Speaker Om Birla, saw Gandhi accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being compromised. Gandhi contended that important national issues he raised had been ignored or silenced.
In response to BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad’s cautionary advice on maintaining decorum and avoiding partisan politics, Gandhi emphasized that the Parliament embodies the people’s will, and the opposition’s voice must be heard to maintain true democratic discourse.
