In the wake of coronavirus crises, the Odisha state government has announced that all schools, colleges will remain shut till June 17 to curb the spread of the virus. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has come up with a new announcement to extend the on-going lockdown scheduled till April 14 to April 30 in Odisha.

Earlier, the state government has declared that the students of Classes 1-9 and 11 will be promoted to the new academic year in the next class without appearing for their annual exams amid the looming uncertainty over the coronavirus.

Till now, a total of 42 positive coronavirus cases has been reported in Odisha and two people have been cured/discharged or migrated while one has died.

Across the nation, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 5,734 on Thursday, including 5,095 active cases, while 472 people have either been cured or discharged.

A total of 166 have died due to COVID-19, as per the Health Ministry.
