President elect, Ram Nath Kovind’s selection as the 14th president of the country was not very doubtful but the massive cross voting has left the opposition to worry.

This is particularly seen ahead of polls in Gujarat, which is to take place later this year.

Expressing concern over the same, Congress leader, Sachin Pilot in a tweet, pointed out that Opposition’s nominee, Meira Kumar got more votes than the total votes of party MLAs in the state.

Many in the opposition voted for Mr Kovind rather than their own candidate, Meira Kumar, particularly in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Punjab, Assam and Tripura.
