Orissa: CM Naveen Patnaik is wealthiest among ministers in his cabinet

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik continues to lead the rich minister’s list in Orissa while State Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena’s net worth grew to be a whopping 4.5 crore in a single year, a statement of assets of all Cabinet ministers of the State which was issued by the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday stated.

When asked to the accused about the incident, he replied that he wanted to warn his son for mischief. He refuted the allegation saying the outsiders are just creating an issue.

However, the child has been handed over to his mother following the incident.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik continues to lead the rich minister’s list in Orissa while State Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena’s net worth grew to be a whopping 4.5 crore in a single year, a statement of assets of all Cabinet ministers of the State which was issued by the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday stated.

The report states, Naveen has assets worth over Rs 64.26 crore which includes movable property worth Rs 62, 66,663.93, immovable inherited properties valued at over Rs 63,64,15,261.

Some of his prized valuables include Ambassador car from the ’80s that is valued at around Rs 8,905 and he possesses jewellery worth about Rs 2, 12,252.

He has deposits of about Rs 40 lakh in two branches of State Bank of India at Hiinjlicut of Ganjam district and Padampur in Bargarh during the general elections last year, added the statement.

The CM has possessions of farmland and building in an area of 22.7 acres at Tikri Khera village of Faridabad valued at Rs 10, 75, 51,071, as per the valuation done in March 2017.

Patnaik has a 50% stake on his ancestral property situated at APJ Abdul Kalam Road in New Delhi valued at Rs 43, 36, 18,000. BJD president also owns a two-third share of Naveen Niwas worth over Rs 9.52 crore, as on August 18, 2017.

Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena’s assets have grown around Rs 4.5 crore in a year and he owns property worth Rs 10 crore. It may be noted that Jena and his son’s joint property in March 2018 valued at 5.38 crore. However, the assets declared by him in March 2019 do not include his son’s share.

With property worth, Rs 26 lakh, Sports and IT Minister Tusharkanti Behera will be the poorest among the ministers of the Naveen Patnaik-led Cabinet.

Behera owns a land spread across an area of 4,830 square feet at Chandaka in Bhubaneswar, a car worth Rs 5 lakh and 90 grams of gold.

Health Minister Naba Kishore Das is next to CM Naveen in terms of property. He is the only Minister in the State Cabinet who owns two revolvers and a rifle.

Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Arun Kumar Sahoo and his wife own assets worth Rs 67 lakh. The declaration given by him reveals the Minister’s wife possesses more property than him.
