Over 2000 Kashmiri men turn up for Indian Army recruitment drive post Pulwama attack

Braving the snow and rain, over 2000 Kashmiri men turned up for 111 vacancies in Indian Army Recruitment drive conducted in Baramulla district. Officials said the youths from northern districts of the valley turned in large numbers to participate in the rally.

The recruitment rally, conducted at Gantamulla Army Camp on Tuesday, comes just five days after the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 paramilitary personnel were killed.

Enthusiasm of youth to become part of Indian Army is indeed inspiring.

The officials said more recruitment rallies are scheduled in Srinagar later this week and next week.

On February 14, a 78-vehicle convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was attacked by a suicide bomber on the Jammu-Srinagar highway near Awantipora in Pulwama district of the state. The deadly attack resulted in the death of 40 CRPF jawans. Terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) which is suspected to have close links with Pakistan’s Inter-Governmental-Intelligence (ISI) claimed responsibility for the attack.
