Palghar lynching case: Maharashtra govt clarifies on "stop Shoaib" being heard in viral video

In the Palghar district of Maharashtra, the case of beating up of sadhus by a mob in the past is very much discussed on social media. Several posts on social media tried to give a communal colour to the incident that the murderers of the sadhus are Muslims, as the voice of ‘Shoaib stop’ is heard in the video.

But the Maharashtra government has rejected these claims and said that Muslims have nothing to do in this incident. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that 101 people have been arrested so far in the Palghar mob lynching case and not one of them is a Muslim.

He also said that the voice of “Oye Bas” was misjudged as “Shoaib Bas” in the viral video.

He said that a voice was heard in the video ‘Oye Bus’, but some people considered it as ‘Shoaib Bus’. He further said that all the systems of the state are fighting the COVID-19 epidemic and some people tried to give communal angle in this matter.

Actually, dismissing all kinds of speculation and rumours on the Palghar mob lynching case, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said through Facebook that 101 people have been arrested in this case and not one of them is Muslim. He accused the opposition of doing politics and giving it communal colour.

In his address via Facebook, he said that it is unfortunate that communal politics is taking place on the Palghar case. This is not the time to do politics, but to fight the coronavirus together. He said that a special IG level officer of the CID is investigating the case.

“But I would like to say that the police arrested 101 people within 8 hours of the crime. We are releasing the names of the accused through WhatsApp today, there is no Muslim in that list,” he added.
