Priyanka Taneja alias Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of imprisoned godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was finally arrested by the Haryana police on Tuesday. Reportedly, she was handed over to the Haryana police by Punjab police. Honeypreet tops the list of 43 people ‘wanted’ by the Haryana police in link with the incidents of violence that killed at least 41 people and injured several others after Ram Rahim‘s conviction.
Last week, the Delhi High Court dismissed Honeypreet’s transit anticipatory saying she had been evading arrest. Hence, she was not entitled to any discretionary relief. Earlier, the 36-year-old in an interview to a news channel said that she was devastated by allegations that the violence in Panchkula was provoked by her. She also told the TV news channel that her “Papa” was innocent.
“I cannot understand how anyone can point fingers at pious relations that are there between a father and his daughter. What proof have these people got to level such allegations? All those who are spreading such rumours, please do not believe them,” she told the channel while talking about her relations with Ram Rahim.
