Crude oil prices fell in early Asian trading, erasing gains from Friday. The price of Brent crude futures fell to $88.50 a barrel, down $1, or 1.1%, before ticking back up to $88.55 at 0149 GMT.
At $83.01 a barrel, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were down 84 cents, or 1 percent.
According to IG market analyst Tony Sycamore, increased efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas moderated geopolitical tensions on Monday.
Hamas officials told Reuters that a delegation will visit Cairo on Monday for peace talks.
