Chief Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Benerjee on Wednesday led a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding a rollback of the policy of demonetisation from Prime Minister Modi, citing inconvenience caused to the general public.

Now another TMC leader and West Bengal state power minister Sobhandeb Chatterjee on Thursday echoed Mamata’s sentiments saying that PM Modi has lost credibility as a national leader due to the poor implementation of demonetisation.

“This decision of demonetisation is affecting the poorest people. Till today they have not managed the distribution of currency to the ATMs. Before taking such a decision, he could have managed everything. The Prime Minister has lost credibility as a national leader,” said Chatterjee.

He also added that their party is not against demonetisation. However, the Centre should have considered the after effects of the step.

Mamata Banerjee also alleged that PM Modi is following a feudal landlord system, wherein he is snatching earnings of the poor.

“After coming to power, this government has paid no heed to the grievances of the people. This government has lost its credibility in the eyes of the general public and if credentials are lost then everything is lost. This government has courtesy this move brought in a feudal landlord system whereby the earnings of the poor are being snatched,” said Banerjee during the protest at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Lately, the Congress Party took out an anti-demonetisation protest march on Wednesday, and alleged that the country is suffering thanks to PM Modi’s declaration of an economic emergency.

Slogan such as “Modi mitra kushal, janata behaal” and “Abki baar janata ki mehnat ki kamai par vaar,” were chanted in the protest led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Ajay Maken. Maken told media that PM Modi is least bothered about the poor and lower income groups.
