Prashant Kishor may quit Congress camp after Rahul’s Kisan Yatra

Speculations are rife that prime strategist and the man behind successful campaigns for PM Narendra Modi and others may quit his latest assignment with Congress after the ongoing ‘Kisan Yatra’ of Rahul Gandhi.

If it comes true, then this would amount to be a huge setback for Congress party before the upcoming assembly polls in 2017.

According to a news report in the Navbharat Times, it is being said that he is not given a free hand to work and his demands of having a new team lead the Congress into elections 2017 has not found favour with many leaders. Even though there have been no comments from the Kishor camp over the entire issue but the exit of this strategist would leave a gaping hole in the campaign planning of Congress as he was pivotal in introducing Sheila Dikshit as the face of Congress in order to woo the Brahman votes in UP.

He has planned many important campaigns for the party including Sonia Gandhi’s road show in Varanasi, the home turf of PM Narendra Modi and the ongoing ‘Kisan Yatra’ which has managed to garner a lot of popular support.

Friction has been reported from Punjab as well where Kishor was accussed by Capt Amarinder Singh of stepping on his turf, as he was reminded during a press conference that, “I run the party.”

Many Congress leaders are also not very happy by him and he has time and again received veiled jibes by many prominent leaders. Recently, Raj Babbar compared Kishor to a ‘sound recorder’ and spokesman Shakeel Ahmed had earlier said that he “is a strategist and will have no role in organisational matters and ticket distribution.”
