President Kovind to be chief guest at Jamia Millia Islamia convocation ceremony

Jamia Millia Islamia to hold open book examinations in January 2021; Check details

Jamia Millia Islamia will organise a convocation ceremony on October 30, 2019. This ceremony is for the students who passed out from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2017 and 2018. President Ram Nath Kovind will appear as the chief guest at the ceremony. 

According to the official release of Jama Millia Islamia’s PRO-Media Coordinator, Ahmad Azeem, degrees and diplomas will be awarded to more than 5000 students including 360 gold medalists during the ceremony. There was no convocation ceremony last year for the graduates because the university lacked a Vice-Chancellor. In addition to the convocation ceremony, Jamia Millia Islamia, founded in 1920 and became the Central University in 1988 will celebrate its 99th anniversary on October 29, 2019.

According to sources, the University plans to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance the 100th anniversary of the university.

Ahmad Azeem said that it is the first visit of President Ram Nath Kovind  at the university to attend the convocation ceremony on October 30th. The convocation ceremony for the graduates will be held at the MAK Pataudi Sports Complex at the University. Students who have been asked to attend the meeting contact the office of the Controller of Examinations at JMI for further details.

Previous convocation ceremony was presided over by former President Pranab Mukherjee for students who graduated in 2014.

JMI offers a one-year Urdu course

Jamia Millia Islamia will offer a one-year Urdu language course in English or Hindi medium using distance mode. The application form for the program can be found on the official website of the university. Candidates interested in taking the course can visit the official website to view the application form.
