One of the six prisoners who had escaped from Punjab’s Nabha jail was detained together with another person, who is also an accused of monstrous crimes in Punjab, last night, said a senior police officer. The former carried a reward of Rs. 5 lakh.

On 27 November 2015, a team of gun-toting men in police uniforms captured Punjab’s Nabha Central Jail and freed two terrorists including the head of Khalistan Liberation Force, Harminder Singh Mintoo and four other criminals.

“Kulpreet Singh Deol alias Neeta (the inmates who had escaped from the Nabha jail) and Sunil Kalra alias Shailla (a dreaded criminal in Punjab) were apprehended from Khajrana area in the city from a residential flat,” said DIG Harinarayanchari Mishra as per the reports.

He said both were detained after questioning of some suspected persons in the zone. Eight mobile phones, laptop along with Rs. 92,000 cash was also recovered from them.

Punjab police have been told of the detention of the prisoner, the DIG said. The suspect had reached Indore a few days ago and had rented a flat, he said.

Other inmates who flew from Punjab’s Nabha jail in November include Gurpreet Singh Shekhon, Vicky Gonder, Kulpreet Singh and Amandeep Singh.
