When political analyst and Janta Dal (United) President Prashant Kishor tweeted congratulating Priyanka Gandhi for she was “one of the most awaited entries in Indian politics”, exact words resonated in everyone’s minds. It was long due.

On 23 January 2019, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi appointed her as the All India Congress Committee General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East. But it was only on February 6 that she officially took charge of the position and assumed the office.

A journey that started in 1999 with Gandhi speaking at a rally for her mother Sonia Gandhi who would later become the chairman of UPA, has seen various occasions when daughter Gandhi has awed everyone with her oratory skills.

Here we list some of these speeches!

“Does UP need to adopt an outsider for development?”

In 2017, while speaking at a rally in Rae Bareli, Gandhi questioned one of PM Narendra Modi’s statement. She said, “PM Modi claimed that UP has adopted him, but does UP need to adopt an outsider for development?”

In the run up to the 2009 Lok Sabha elections Priyanka at Amethi had said, “She was not just my grandmother, but she was also the mother to millions of Indians. She was a part of the family that has worked for people and that loves the country.”

“Don’t need ‘56-inch’ chest to run country”

In a rally in Gorakhpur before the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Gandhi had said, “We don’t need a ’56-inch chest’ to run the country(India). You need a soft heart to run the nation.”
