Sony, meanwhile, is playing it super coy. Not a single date out of them, but they keep insisting the future is bright and consoles aren’t going anywhere. President Hideaki Nishino is out here saying “the platform is top of mind,” which is corporate for “we’re definitely doing something but not telling you.” Financial VP Lynn Azar is hinting at more subscriptions, which just sounds like we’ll be paying monthly for even more stuff soon.
With all due respect, I don’t think that makes sense.
The PS5 Pro is aimed at a more niche audience; it doesn’t serve as a benchmark for when Sony will release its next base console (which is a mass-market product).

There are rumors that Sony’s already messing with new hardware and sticking with AMD for the guts maybe aiming for 2027, but who knows.
