PSEB postpones exams till curfew ends amid COVID-19 outbreak

Punjab education minister Vijay Inder Singla has declared further postponement of classes 8, 10 and 12 examinations due to the curfew across the state in cognizance of coronavirus outbreak.

Punjab education minister Vijay Inder Singla has declared further postponement of classes 8, 10 and 12 examinations on Monday, March 31, 2020, due to the curfew across the state in cognizance of coronavirus outbreak.

Singla added that earlier the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) had postponed these exams till March 31, but some of the practical exams of Class 8th and theoretical exams of Class 12th were rescheduled for April 1. Apart from this, some of the theoretical exams of Class 10th have also been postponed.

The PSEB controller of examination declared that new dates for the examinations would be out once the curfew ends.

Meanwhile, Singla issued instructions to education officers in the districts to open school premises for providing shelter to migrant labourers who have been left due to coronavirus and are likely to stay for wheat harvest and paddy transplantation. The cabinet minister said that local district administration will provide them food and other arrangements during their stay in schools.

Singla also said that the education department has put the recruitment process of ETT teachers on hold till April 15. As per Singla, the posts of Hindi, Punjabi, mathematics, social studies, English and science subject teachers under the border cadre category were to be filled under this recruitment process.
