In yet another incident of train mishap, a railways driver was reported dead after a train collided with a cement mixer truck in Punjab on Saturday afternoon. It reportedly happened at the Firozpur-Fazilka rail section, near Sukhera village. The deceased was identified as Vikas, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Following the incident, the trolley driver escaped from the scene. In the accident, the engine of the train was badly damaged while the trolley was completely destroyed. According to the report, Gurdev Singh, who was deployed on the railway crossing, was trying to stop the trolley but failed to do so, leading to the accident. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in the incident. The train was going from Firozpur to Fazilka.

In August, at least 20 passengers were killed and over 80 others injured after 14 coaches of the Puri-Haridwar Kalinga Utkal Express derailed at Khatauli, 25 km from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The accident took place when the train was crossing the Khatauli station yard at a speed of 105 kmph. According to a report by The Indian Express, 14 coaches between the first five and the last four went off the tracks suddenly, including 10 non-AC Sleeper, one AC-III tier, one AC-II tier and a pantry car.
