Rajasthan: Diwali breaks cancelled for Schools

The Rajasthan Government has cancelled long Diwali breaks in schools across the state. According to an official notification, the Rajasthan Secondary Education Department has cancelled all holidays barring the gazetted holidays in the state. The decision has been taken to make up for time lost by students in due to long closure of schools in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

The notice further pointed out the schools have been asked to operate even on a Saturday (provided there is no gazette holiday on that day) as well.

This apart, the educational institutions have also been forbidden to announce any special leaves/ holidays in lieu of Diwali or any other reason in the state.

Schools in Rajasthan reopened for Classes 1 to 5 students as well on September 29, 2021.

The objective of opening school is to provide more time for classroom learning in order to make up for the lost time.

According to the Government of India, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj are Restricted Holidays and not Gazetted Holidays.
