Rajasthan Polls 2018: Minorities ready to play vital role in assembly election

Rajasthan, the royal state of India which comprises 90% of the Hindu population and 10% of minority communities, is witnessing a massive agitation over caste and religion based politics. Following which, minority communities are also vocal on several issues including increased participation of minority community people in politics.

As per the sources, Christians and Muslims voters would not affect Rajasthan election as they are less in number, but they have started raising their voice and stated that a party that pledges for inclusive India should win and also we would welcome that government, that upholds the constitution, respects the unity and plurality of Indian culture.

Congress leader Naushad Ali said that,

“We want a Rajasthan and India where the Dalits, the poor, the marginalised and all are accepted as part of the country with dignity”.

Arvind John, who hails from Jaipur, said that “I will prefer them (politicians) to change their functioning style. Politicians do everything without attending issues like poverty, malnutrition, and illiteracy”.

Last week in Jaipur, BJP Minority Morcha raised the issue of fielding Muslim candidates in upcoming state assembly election and demanded 10 Muslim candidates from the saffron party.

However, there is a belief that, in upcoming times participation of both Christians and Muslims will increase in Rajasthan politics, also there are chances of much larger participation from minorities in state assembly election.
