In a dreadful case of medical negligence, a woman’s baby was split into half during delivery in government hospital of Ramgarh area, Rajasthan. According to the reports, the physicians at the time of delivery pulled the child’s feet so forcefully that the child’s head was separated from the torso and the head remained inside the womb.
What was even worse was that the staff at the government hospital in Jaisalmer’s Ramgarh didn’t inform the parents about the botch-up and hid the part of the body that they had pulled out.
It was when the mother’s health began to deteriorate that they referred the mother Diksha Kanwar to Jodhpur hospital citing other medical reasons. However, the doctors at the Jodhpur hospital found it very difficult to comprehend the case, but managed to figured out that the head was still inside the mother’s womb.
The Ramgarh hospital in its defence said that the baby was born dead and that since they were facing trouble in the delivery and didn’t have enough medical facilities in their hospital that they referred the patient to the hospital in Jodhpur.
Later, father Tilok Bhati went to the police to file a complaint against the hospital staff. A case was filed under IPC sections 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety) against two staffers of the Ramgarh hospital.
Both the halves of the body has been sent for postmortem.
