Superstar Rajnikanth has been honoured with 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced the Thursday.

The decision to confer the prestigious award comes days before the single-phased election in Tamil Nadu on April 6, 2021.
Rajnikanth was last seen in 2020 Tamil action-thriller film Darbar.
Dadasaheb Phalke Awards are managed by Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The award is considered to be one the most prestigious one for people in cinema.
