Rajinikanth’s new film ‘Kaala’ has surfaced the internet and was trending heavily on social media sites, soon after its poster was released on Thursday. The poster was released by Thalaiva’s son-in-law and film’s producer, Dhanush. The film was earlier called Thalaivar 164 but is now titled Kaala Karikaalan.

The film is the second project where Rajinikanth and Pa Ranjith are working together, after the superhit Kabali. Director Pa Ranjith had said that Rajinikanth will be seen playing the role of a man from Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli, who escapes to Mumbai as a child and goes on to become a powerful don living in Dharavi slums. He is Kaala to those who oppose him, and it is also a reference to his complexion. The film will have many mass action scenes.

The movie started trending in India, as soon as the title was announced. The poster was much loved by the fans. The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, Sreekar Prasad is the film editor, and T Ramalingam is the art director.

Revealing the poster, Dhanush wrote, “Wunderbar films presents .. superstar Rajinikanth in and as #thalaivar164.”

This is the first time that Rajinikanth and Dhanush are working together.Reportedly, Huma Qureshi is playing the female lead in the flick. The rest of the cast is yet to be revealed.

People are also wondering what the name of the film, Kaala Karikaalan , stands for.

While Kaala means dark in many languages, it also stands for Yama, the god of death. It is being conjectured that Rajinikanth as a gangster will do justice in his own style. Karikaalan was a popular Chola king. The film is expected for a release around May 28.
