In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a man who was released from jail only a few days ago in Secunderabad on Saturday evening. The suspect, 30 year-old Anil Kumar is an accused in eight murder cases is on the run now. The police were able to identify him based on security footage.
As reported, the girl went missing from outside her home where she was playing on Saturday and was lured by Kumar on the pretext of buying her chocolates. Eyewitnesses reported they saw Kumar lead the girl away and security footage from a nearby shop shows Kumar with the child. The girl was taken to an isolated place where she was raped and later strangled to death.
Police found the girl near the railway tracks in the cantonment area in Bolarum, Secunderabad, on Sunday morning. The head was smashed in by a boulder, apparently to prevent identification. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
The girl was the daughter of Ramakrishna, a daily wage worker from Kalasiguda who lived in the Secunderabad cantonment area.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections for rape and murder of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
