The Ashok Kumar Roopanwal Commission report, which is related to Rohith Vemula’s death, was made public on Tuesday. The commission, reportedly, claimed that Rohith was not happy with ‘worldly affairs’ and his own problems, which led him to commit suicide.
Rohith Vemula was a research scholar in the University of Hyderabad, who ended his life by committing suicide on 17 January 2016. However, according to the report, he committed suicide of his own volition and the university’s act of expelling him and four other students from the hostel did not become a reason for him to take the drastic step.
The Roopanwal Commission report also vindicates union ministers, Bandaru Dattatreya and Smriti Irani, stating that they were only carrying out their duties.
