Former minister in Akhilesh Yadav’s cabinet, Ravidas Mehrotra, has been caught in some serious legal trouble. An amount of Rs 30 lakhs has been recovered in old currency from his car in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow. The money was in old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, that are no longer a legal tender.

The Gomtinagar police have taken two people into custody, in connection with the case. One of them is the driver of the Samajwadi Party’s leader. When questioned about where was the money was being taken, he said that he had no idea about it. A revolver has also been recovered from the driver.

The two men said that in no way were they involved in the case. They alleged that they had nothing to do with the money, and it was clearly, not theirs’.
