RSS’ Muslim outfit to cut goat shaped cake on Bakri Eid

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Muslim unit Muslim Rashtriya Manch in Lucknow has decided to celebrate the Bakri Eid festival by cutting a cake baked in the shape of a goat, instead of sacrificing a goat or any other animal.

The decision may sound funny but a 5-kg cake has already been ordered and it will be cut at the Manch’s Awadh prant office in Lucknow on Tuesday.

The Manch workers will not even cook biryani at home. Instead, they will offer sewaiyan and dahi vada to their friends.

Awadh Prant convener of the Manch, Raees Khan said that they will celebrate Bakri Eid, just like the way people celebrate birth anniversary cutting cake. He added that if this practice receives good response, he will try to promote it in other prants too.

According to Hasan Kausar, who is a co-convener of the Manch, the Bakr-Eid festival spreads a message of humanity and it is not right to kill a goat without any reason and eat its meat.

On Monday BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma triggered controversy after making a statement that there can be a discussion on whether there should be eco-friendly Eid.

Earlier Haryana officials were collecting samples of biryani in Muslim dominated Mewat district of Haryana after getting complaints that biryani sellers were using beef.
