Diana Edulji, a member of Supreme-Court-established Committee of Administrators, revealed that the BCCI broke rules in their appointment of Ravi Shastri as the Indian Cricket team’s head coach.

She said that the captain of the team, Virat Kohli, used to send messages to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri about differences with the then coach Anil Kumble; Kumble eventually resigned from the post.

In an Email to CoA Chief, Vinod Rai, Diana wrote, “Virat did not accede to Kumble continuing in spite of CAC saying so then why not these two players get what they feel is best for the team.”

Rai accepted what Diana’s accusations. He said, “Yes- there were differences between Virat and Kumble. As a consequence of that Kumble stepped back.”

The BCCI had extended the deadline for the applications after which Shastri applied and was made the head coach till 2019 World Cup.

Earlier the BCCI ran into controversy after Mithali Raj accused the coach and selection board over missing her out in the Semi-Final game of the Women’s World T20. In an E-mail, she had said, “Never did I think she (Edulji) will use her position against me, more after hearing what all I had to go through in the Caribbean as I had spoken to her about it.”
