Preece was approximately 15th when his vehicle slid off the road while Erik Jones was on his bumper. On the backstretch, as Preece’s car transitioned from grass to asphalt, it became airborne and overturned violently.
The Stewart-Haas Racing driver exited his vehicle under his own power and walked to a gurney to be transported to the infield medical centre. Later, he was brought to the hospital for evaluation.
“If you want to be a race car driver, you must be a strong individual….. Preece stated in a tweet, “I’m returning.”
The 2013 champion of the modified division, 32-year-old Preece has three top-five finishes in 141 career starts. He entered Saturday’s regular-season finale 24th in the standings and needed a victory to qualify for the postseason.
Chris Buescher, the victor of the race, stated, “I wish Preece the best of luck.” “He is an excellent acquaintance of mine. As we have progressed along the path to victory, I have received some updates.
“It sounds as though he is holding on, which makes sense — he’s a bit stubborn. I am surely anticipating the best.”
