Minister of State in the human resource development ministry backtracked on his statement saying he meant the government will accept whatever is good for the nation, be it “Bhagwakaran or green or red colour”.
Speaking to ANI, the BJP MP from Agra said, “I just said whatever is good for the nation, we’ll accept that; whether it is Bhagwakaran or green or red colour.” He added, “This colour resembles, sacrifice, respect, devotion. I haven’t related anyone with any colour. All the colours are of the nation and they should be implemented for the benefit of the nation.”
On Sunday, in an event in Lucknow Katharia said saffronisation of education is good. Saffronisation and ‘Sanghwaad’—terms associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) ideology—will “definitely” take place if it benefits and prides the country, he added.
Aam Aadmi Party’s Ashutosh reacted to the statement saying the BJP is only interested in vote bank politics.
Ironically, HRD minister Smriti Irani has previously said she will resign if saffronisation of education is proved.
