After much contention around its title and several charges on factual inaccuracies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat is apparently set to release on January 25, 2018. After several hiccups, the film was recently green-signaled by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the producers of the movie, Viacom 18, was busy at work to get the film out in the next 18-odd days.
Notably, the movie will be clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Padman that will also release on the same date.
A box office clash is inevitable, as the makers of Padman have maintained that they will not shift the release of their film to any other date.
Prernaa Arora, one of the producers of Padman, told PTI that they will release the film, which features Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles, as scheduled.
“I am clueless what is happening… with the clash. I have no idea about it. Even we have heard about it. All we know is Padman is releasing on January 25. Akshay announced it officially,” she said.
