Following the series of controversy within Tamil Nadu politics after Jayalalithaa’s death, both fractions of AIADMK MLAs one led by jailed leader Sasikala and the other by former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, were holding informal meetings on Tuesday, hoping for a possible merging.
As O Panneerselvam spoke to media, he said, “Our founder MGR and Amma created this party as a party for the people and cadres, this is a Democratic Party for people and cadres.”
Claiming the elections for the office-bearers of AIADMK to be illegal he says that Dinakaran was not even member of the party till Jayalalithaa’s demise.
He added that the party should not be in the hands of one family. “There is no change in our basic demand of ouster of Sasikala family. We will only earn wrath of public if the party and the government is controlled by one family.”
Stating that the elevation of General Secretary was not as per the bylaws of the party, he added, “Sasikala’s elevation and inturn her subsequent actions are null and void.”
He also asked for transparent enquiry into the treatment provided to Jayalithaa. Taking a jibe at Sasikala he says, “Sasikala has betrayed Amma’s cause, she and Dinakaran were sacked by Jayalalithaa”
“As long as Sasikala’s family members are in the AIADMK, there is no chance for talks for unite both factions” he added.
