Separatist leader Geelani says Kashmiris are close to freedom

Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Friday criticised central government saying it has started ‘farce of engagement’ to divert attention from the reality on the ground. “They will come again to ask what do we want. They know the answer to that question. We want freedom,” Geelani said.

In a letter released to the media Geelani said that Kashmiris are close to freedom. “The current phase of the freedom struggle has provided a powerful push towards our goal of freedom, which is very much in sight”, said the letter.

Geelani had called a press conference in the morning at his residence where he remains under house arrest, but authorities sealed the locality and forced journalists to leave the area.

The separatist leader said that the only relation between India and Kashmir is that of the occupier and the occupied. He said that the centre has been shaken by the resolve of Kashmiris to achieve their goal of freedom.

Geelani called Abdullahs, Muftis and Lones stooges of India and said that their only task is to strengthen the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and provide shameless justifications for cold-blooded murders.
