Shahabad is among the 90 constituencies to go for polls for Haryana Legislative Assembly on October 21. Shahabad falls in the Kurukshetra district. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Krishan Kumar is the current MLA of Shahabad.

In the 2014 Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Haryana Legislative Assembly) Elections, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Krishan Kumar defeated INLD’s candidate Ram Karan by a mare margin of around 600 votes. Kumar registered 45715 votes, while Rama Karan secured 45153 votes.
