#MeToo movement had taken the country by storm. A lot of women came out in the open and accused their sexual predators. Many names from the film industry were exposed in Me Too Movement and one among other prominent personalities who was accused of sexual misconduct was Anu Malik. While Nana Patekar and Sajid Khan stepped down from Housefull 4 after being named during the me too movement, music composer Anu Malik was removed from the judge panelist in the singing reality show, Indian Idol 10.
Singer and composer Sona Mohapatra was the first accuser who spoke out against Anu Malik, whom she called a serial offender. She alleged that he would call her at odd hours. Now, singer Sona Mohapatra has lashed out at Sonu Nigam for supporting Anu Malik on #MeToo and has questioned why sympathy for a millionaire. Singer Sona Mohapatra slammed Sonu Nigam and wrote on Twitter, “So much sympathy for a millionaire losing work? So much empathy for his privileged family being ‘tortured’?How about the scores of girls & women he tortured?Multiple testimonies not proof enough?”

“Sonu Nigam backs Anu Malik on #MeToo: Where is the proof?” https://t.co/xGajdQQfT8— SONA (@sonamohapatra) December 19, 2018
1)Not 1 but possibly ?+ women & MEN can attest to Anu Malik’s deplorable abusive behaviour.
2)I guess Mr. Sonu Nigam expects all these women/underage girls to – a)strap recording devices b)carry spy cams, other proof gathering devices cus they have much to benefit defaming him? https://t.co/2udQ71S70a— SONA (@sonamohapatra) December 19, 2018
Are Arijeet Singh, Badshah,Vishal Dadlani from Pakistan though? ?
(U’ve had your moment under the sun dear. India anoints a new ‘Male Super Star’ every 3/4/5 years without fail. Don’t blame the Pakistani artists. Also do not mix up Art & Music with Politics & Idealogy. ????) https://t.co/VIUNZVCgjt— SONA (@sonamohapatra) December 19, 2018
I always found Sonu Nigam to be brighter than most of his peers, intelligent, so talented, excellent at his craft & yes, kind too. Feel so let down hearing him talk like this & choose the dark side to side up with. I’m hoping he realises how sad this is. ??? https://t.co/aQxiD2VdUx

Meanwhile, talking about Me Too and its repercussions, Sonu had said, “Who has given us the right to be the judiciary of someone else’s life? Or you provide concrete proof. I have two sisters. I stand for them. But that does not mean that you put a stop to someone’s work. How can that happen?,” adding, “The torture, harassment, can happen anywhere. It happens in the corporate world too. You have accused him, you have shamed him; now don’t punish his family. Get proof first.”
